Emerging Trend: Glasshouses

Oh. My. Gosh. There’s a new wave of stunning wedding venues making us drool and if you’re a Bride-to-Be, get your notebook ready. You won’t want to miss this one.

The thing that’s caught out hearts so much? Glasshouses. There aren’t actually enough words to describe how they make you feel. You stand inside and they’re dreamy, elegant, refined.

There’s a certain old charm about Glasshouses too, and they are so versatile!

Glasshouses offer an ideal way to bring the outside in, AND avoid any unnecessary worrying about rain (we do live in the UK after all). These divine glass structures fill with natural daylight meaning you can say your vows under a veil of blue sky, yet look up to the midnight sky and watch the stars by nightfall. Depending on the position and elevation of your Glasshouse, you may be lucky enough to watch sunset from your venue too.

Here at Front Row Bride we’ve TOTALLY fallen in love with Glasshouses. Can you tell?
So much so, we’ve done our homework and come up what we think are the top three venues in the south.

Kew Gardens, London

Botanical Beauty

Time to Salute Kew Gardens! Their world-renowned gardens and iconic buildings provide a unique and unforgettable wedding experience.  Their Orangery, in particular, can seat 230 guests and boasts an open-plan design with uber-high ceilings, grand arched windows and plenty of natural daylight. During the summer months guests can enjoy the large terrace with its spectacular views of the gardens.

If you’re looking for a real show-stopper, the stunning, freshly restored Temperate House is the largest Victorian glasshouse in the world, home to some of Kew’s largest plants. How cool would it be saying you got married in the world’s largest Glasshouse? (yes we thought so) The House has a mix of decorative motifs, finials, pediments, acanthus leaf capitals, Coade stone urns and statues. It’s extremely glamorous and romantic.

The impressive glasshouse is the perfect space to host your day and / or elegant evening wedding reception. Guests would arrive to the magnificent glasshouse and dine amongst 10,000 species of rare and threatened plants making your day an unforgettable experience.

St Audries Park, Somerset

Ethereal Beauty

Step on in to St Audries Park. A beautiful, 100-acre site in Somerset. You’ll find a tranquil deer park, the rolling hills of Quantock and an idyllic Victorian Orangery for your ceremony. The venue holds up to 130 for your ceremony and 250 for your reception.

As you can see the Orangery is flooded with daylight and its white peaks and columns are super dreamy and romantic. Their ‘golden aisle’ garners a lot of attention for saying your vows too!

Bridwell House

Bridwell Beauty

Situated close to Bridwell House (a GOREOUS wedding venue in Devon) the Orangery is breath-taking. A wisteria and honeysuckle-covered pergola leads to this delightful building: four sets of charming Georgian style French doors open onto the south facing garden and flood the interior with light. This is a need to know, and need to see place!

Bridwell House has been hidden from public gaze for over 240 years, but it opened its doors for guests to enjoy on an exclusive use hire basis in 2015. It is now one of Devon’s finest venues.

Getting married here allows you access to the elegant Georgian house set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland. This Orangery gets our vote; you’re under the stars, while in luxuriously warm and beautifully lit surroundings.

A venue of outstanding quality, elegance and charm located in the heart of Devon. We say, go and pay a visit!

High up under the glass roof of the Conservatory, up to 200 guests may be accommodated in this magical setting for drinks receptions or private dining.

Our tip? Opt for an old school style lighting: hanging delicate festoons, multitudes of church candles will glow under the glass dome, or hanging vintage pendant bulbs for the ultimate in sophistication.

Another reason we are obsessing over Glass houses is that they are picture-perfect. Glasshouses provide the ultimate backdrop for your photos, in fact, we say magazine worthy!

With an air of old English beauty, secret gardens and timeless elegant, these structures are pure magic. Be sure to get in touch if you book a Glass house for your wedding; we’d love to hear from you!
